👋 Hi, I'm Jonathan Paterson

Welcome to my portfolio!

I’m a digital illustrator and storyteller with over 15 years of freelance experience. My work is grounded in a deep respect for subject matter, and guided by a love for simplicity, clarity, and wonder. Through every project, I aim to create art that doesn’t just look beautiful, but feels meaningful.

Much of my inspiration comes from the stories and illustrations that shaped my childhood. I’m endlessly influenced by the magic of Hans Christian Andersen, the heart of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the whimsy of Quentin Blake, and the precision of Hergé. Their storytelling spirit lives on in everything I create.

My Mission

As a creative soul, I’ve always felt drawn to the power of shared experiences. Today, that calling has found its home in a project very close to my heart: bringing stories to life through interactive reading sessions for children and families.

What began as fun, informal gatherings with friends and relatives has grown into something much bigger. These storytelling sessions, blending captivating visuals with gentle performance, have already received enthusiastic feedback from established illustrators and graphic designers.

Reaching Young Hearts

I'm now partnering with a range of institutions, from libraries and preschools to community centres, hospitals, and outdoor events, to deliver these sessions directly to families with young children.

Each story invites children to travel alongside colourful, curious characters. Together, we spark imaginations, stir emotions, and plant seeds of lifelong curiosity, all wrapped in the joy of storytelling.

By thoughtfully engaging with diverse communities, I hope to nurture a love of literature that will grow with each child long after the final page is turned.
